Angels Day Nursery Case Study

Here at Pavilion, we are passionate and proud of our track record in supporting 16-24 year olds.

Recently, we caught up with Katie, Nursery Manager at Angels Day Nursery in Great Barr to find out how two of our Trainees, Alina and Aliza, have progressed with their work placement over the last few weeks.

Angels Day Nursery provides high-quality inclusive care and education including strong shared values, policies and practice, giving every child the best possible start in life.

What were you looking to achieve with the trainees you took on?

It’s a great way to get to know candidates who are looking to get into childcare and also give them the experience of what it would be like to work in this industry without having to commit to an Apprenticeship.

How have our trainees positively impacted your nursery, children and team? Do you have any examples of Alina and Aliza contributing to your setting?

Alina and Aliza have helped the staff with day-to-day tasks and it has been great to have them around. We can see that they have started to get used to the routine and use their initiative to help the rooms run smoothly. Naturally, this has had an overall positive impact on the children and staff.

Have you seen Aliza and Alina develop professionally and personally over the course of the traineeship?

We can see that the girls have become more confident to communicate with others and are starting to show that they have learnt new things by practical applying them whilst on their work placement.

Is there an area where you feel your organisation has made an extra effort to support a trainee and/or give them an opportunity to further their development/learning?

Here at Angels Day Nursery, we want to build a workforce for the future and support young people who are local to build long-lasting careers. As a result, we would love to offer the girls an opportunity to work with us; They are currently looking at how an Apprenticeship would work for them.

How do you think a work placement helps young people jumpstart their careers?

It gives them the experience that they might not have the opportunity to do if it wasn’t for the traineeships. Many young people lost out on the work experience that they would usually do at school due to the pandemic.

What advice would you give to an employer who is unsure about Traineeships?

Try it, you will be surprised with what talent you can find.

Would you recommend Pavilion Training to other employers and if so, why?

Yes, Pavilion has made it an easy process to get the Traineeships to start. They do all the checks required so that the learners are ready to go. Thank you!
